Dorset Chamber Opera was founded in 1990 and gave many successful opera performances for over twenty years. It was a small, non-profit making company, which had at its core a group of professional and semi-professional singers, some of whom have sung with the best opera groups in the country.
It toured Dorset and the South West, performing in country houses, theatres, churches and arts centres. Fully-staged operas were presented, in costume, usually in English and to a piano accompaniment. DCO was recognised as a company dedicated to the art of singing and the production of fine, small-scale operatic performances. Its performances raised in excess of £20,000 for charity. |
